Texas families will get their SNAP benefits from December 1 through December 28, 2025. The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) uses each home’s EDG number to decide the payment day. This number is on your Lone Star Card paperwork and all HHSC letters. The USDA confirms federal funding is fully approved, so all December payments will be on time.
Texas uses two systems. Homes certified before June 1, 2020 get benefits from December 1 to December 15. Homes certified after June 1, 2020 get benefits from December 16 to December 28. HHSC says this helps protect the EBT network and makes sure more than 3 million Texans get smooth access to food benefits.
Families with older cases use the last digit of their EDG number. Families with newer cases use the last two digits. Payments show up early in the morning, and families can check the Your Texas Benefits app to confirm their deposit.

The USDA sets the maximum SNAP amounts, which stay the same for December 2025. These amounts apply in Texas:
- 1 person: $298
- 2 people: $546
- 3 people: $782
- 4 people: $994
- 5 people: $1,181
- 6 people: $1,418
- 7 people: $1,566
- 8 people: $1,789
- Each extra person: + $223
These are maximum amounts. The USDA explains that benefits depend on income, and families must apply a 30% income deduction before SNAP totals are calculated.
To find your EDG number, HHSC says you can check your Lone Star Card letters, open the Your Texas Benefits app, or call 2-1-1. If your SNAP amount does not show up on the right day, HHSC says the most common causes are late paperwork, missed recertification, income changes, or work rules not met.
Federal officials say funding is approved through September 2026, so Texas SNAP benefits will continue without delay. Families can plan safely knowing their December 2025 benefits will arrive on schedule.
